What is a Phlebotomist?
Phlebotomy is the process of withdrawing blood for the purpose of medical testing. The person
who withdrawals the blood is called the Phlebotomist. Phlebotomists are hired in hospitals,
doctor offices, blood donation centers, dialysis centers, plasma centers and more.

Why become a Phlebotomist?
As a phlebotomist you have the option to work in several different healthcare settings and impact
several patients each day. If you are caring and compassionate about helping others, this is a job
for you. This is a great introduction into the healthcare field and can be used a stepping stone
into another career or a career on its own. According the Bureau of Labor Statistics the demand
for Phlebotomists will continue to be 25% higher than all other occupations. The average hourly
wage for a Phlebotomist is anywhere from $12.00 to $18.80.

Why Choose Heart to Heart Healthcare Training?
Our Phlebotomy class consists of a blended learning experience of both online and in- class. All
lectures will take place through our online classroom, while all of your lab experience (blood-
draws) will take place in the classroom setting during specific dates/times. The student will have
4 weeks to complete the online learning assignments at their own pace and an additional 4 weeks
to complete all required blood-draws. The lab portion (last four-weeks of class) will take place on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 5pm to 7pm.

This program prepares the graduate to work as a Phlebotomist in any clinical setting. Our
students will be taught anatomy and physiology, safety, medical terminology, communication,
infection control, phlebotomy basics, equipment, specimen collections and handling, as well as
various other information regarding Phlebotomy. After completion of the program the student
may sit for the National Certification Examination for Phlebotomy, which is included in the
tuition. Our structured program gives step by step guided instruction so that every student can

be successful, whether they have a prior medical education and experience or not.
